130th Anniversary & Opening Weekend Celebration!
Join us as we celebrate the opening of the 130th season at the Old Stone Fort Museum with a full day of immersive living history programs, a special ribbon cutting ceremony and – of course – birthday cake!
Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4 the Old Stone Fort Museum Complex will come alive with the sights, smells and sounds of the 18th century, as living historians welcome the public to take a step back in time.
Hands-on activities and captivating demonstrations will give visitors a sampling of Colonial and Revolutionary America, including;
• Militia Inspections and Drills
• Open Fire Cooking
• Candle Dipping
• Butter Churning
• Spinning and Tape Loom Weaving
• Quill Writing
• Scherenschnitte (traditional German paper cutting design)
• Historic Chocolate Making
• AND MORE!
At 1 p.m., visitors, historical society staff and trustees will join special invited guests on the lawn of the Old Stone Fort for a ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony, celebrating 130 years of the preservation and presentation of rural New York History at the landmark site.
Following the ceremony, refreshments and birthday cake will be served.
