Juried Donation Makes Dreams of a New Library and Educational Center a Reality
For many years, the Schoharie County Historical Society has discussed the need for an additional building to accommodate our growing collection that includes a research library, genealogical materials, and historic artifacts. We are excited to announce that this dream can now start in earnest thanks to the continued generosity of Nick Juried and the Nicholas J. Juried Family Foundation. Last week Mr. Juried donate $300,000 towards the construction of a new library and educational center that can be used to properly store and care for our collection.
Combined with a previous donation from Chet Zimmer and the Zimmer family, the Schoharie County Historical Society is excited to begin planning the new addition to our facilities.
For years, Mr. Juried has been a huge supporter of our efforts to improve our facilities, including the recent completion of the newly constructed fireplace in our Hartmann’s Dorf House. This addition has allowed us to help better tell the story and show the lifestyle of the Palatine settlers that lived in Schoharie. If you are interested in seeing this completed project, please call to book a tour!
Again, thank you to Nick Juried and the Zimmer family for supporting our efforts to better our facilities and helping us to tell the story of Schohaire County.
