Stone Fort Day 2022: A Palatine Farm Harvest

Stone Fort Day will return to the Old Stone Fort Museum on Saturday, September 17 with a full day of living history activities, demonstrations, and programming, bringing to life the Schoharie Valley in the late 1760s! With the theme of a Palatine Farm Harvest, this year’s Stone Fort Day will focus on the civilian lives of the Palatines, Dutch, and Native Americans who lived, worked, hunted, and traded in the Schoharie Valley during the late 1760s.

Stone Fort Day invites you to engage all of your senses in the sights, smells, sounds, and tastes of colonial Schoharie County, with cooking demonstrations, candle dipping, agricultural programs, woodworking, militia drills, needlepoint, live music, and much more!

Food will once again be provided by Cargies, who will offer festival favorites such as hamburgers, hotdogs, pulled pork, french fries, and a few special offerings with a historic flair!

The Old Stone Fort Museum’s lower level and gift shop will be open throughout the day!

Admission is by donation!

10 a.m. – Gates Open

11 a.m. – Lecture: Palatine History with Jeff O’Connor (Main Tent)

11:45 p.m. – Firelocks and Game Program with John Osinski and Roger Garrison (School Yard)

12:30 p.m. – Houdenosaunee Program with Glenn Bentz (Barn Yard)

1:30 p.m. – Blacksmithing with Olof Jansen (Barn Yard)

2:30 p.m. – Lecture: David Williams and the Capture of John Andre with Vic DiSanto (Main Tent)

3 p.m. – Kids Militia Drill with Old Stone Fort Curator Dan Beams (School Yard)

4 p.m. – Site Closes
