Whether you’re a lifelong resident or a first-time visitor\, Hometown History Day is a chance to connect with the past\, learn something new\, and celebrate the unique heritage of Schoharie County.\n\n  \nThis event is part of Pay What You Wish Week\, meaning museum admission and all on-site events are available by donation. Pay as much or as little as you are able\, everyone is welcome to join in the fun and discover local history.\n\nMuseum Hours:\n10:00 AM – 5:00 PM\n\n  \nFort Building Competition:\n10:00 AM – 5:00 PM\nVisitors of all ages are invited to participate in our Fort Building Competition. Put your creativity and historical ingenuity to the test as you design and build your own fort!\n\nVoting Period:\nJune 29 – July 4\nEveryone will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite fort throughout the week. The winning entry will be announced on July 4 prior to the Tavern Toasts.\n\n  \nGuided Tours:\n10:00 AM\, 12:00 PM & 2:00 PM\n\n  \nLocal History Trivia:\n5:30 PM in the Tent\nTest your knowledge of local history and compete for prizes during our evening trivia event. Explore the ideas\, symbols\, and traditions that have shaped our nation while enjoying interactive experiences for the whole family.\n\n  \nBe sure to attend our Militia Training demonstrations at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM\, where participants can get a glimpse into the training and discipline of colonial militia members.\nWe hope to see you there!

DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday\, June 30th at 10:30 AM for Eagles of Schoharie County\, presented by Bill Combs Jr.\, a local wildlife photographer and conservation advocate known throughout the region for his extensive work documenting bald eagles. For nearly two decades\, Combs has monitored local eagle populations\, tracked nesting activity\, and contributed valuable data to conservation efforts across New York State. \n\n  \nIn this engaging presentation\, attendees will learn about the remarkable recovery of the bald eagle from the brink of extinction\, gain insight into the species’ behavior and habitat\, and discover the thriving eagle population that now calls Schoharie County home. Whether you’re a bird enthusiast\, nature lover\, or simply curious about one of America’s most iconic species\, this program offers a unique look at these magnificent birds and the conservation success story behind their return. \n\n  \nWeather permitting\, the presentation will take place in the tent located in front of the Dutch Barn. \n\n  \nThis event is part of Pay What You Wish Week\, meaning museum admission and all on-site events are available by donation.
