Celebrate Hometown History Day with us as we explore the stories, people, and traditions that shaped our community. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or a first-time visitor, Hometown History Day is a chance to connect with the past, learn something new, and celebrate the unique heritage of Schoharie County.
This event is part of Pay What You Wish Week, meaning museum admission and all on-site events are available by donation. Pay as much or as little as you are able, everyone is welcome to join in the fun and discover local history.

Fort Building Competition:
10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Visitors of all ages are invited to participate in our Fort Building Competition. Put your creativity and historical ingenuity to the test as you design and build your own fort!
Voting Period:
June 29 – July 4
Everyone will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite fort throughout the week. The winning entry will be announced on July 4 prior to the Tavern Toasts.

Local History Trivia:
5:30 PM in the Tent
Test your knowledge of local history and compete for prizes during our evening trivia event. Bring your friends, form a team, and see who knows the most about Schoharie County’s past!
