In 1775\, General Washington gave Schuyler command over the New York Department of the Continental Army. He played a key role in the American victory at the Battle of Saratoga\, as well as in earlier campaigns\, including the Invasion of Canada\, and the Battles of Lake Champlain and Fort Ticonderoga. Schuyler also served as an Indian Commissioner\, attempting to gain the support of the Six Nations Confederacy against the British. \nJon Jasewicz is a historian primarily focused on the colonial period in New York’s Capital Region and Mohawk Valley. Along the way\, their immigrant story impacts others who may be viewed as in their way or are helpful.
