Museum Curatorial Internship

Qualifications
- Enrolled in or within one year of graduation from an accredited college or university with
a relevant major, including, but not limited to: History, Anthropology, or Museum Studies - Interest in history
- Strong interpersonal, communication, research, time management, and writing skills
- Ability to multitask
- Willingness to learn new skills and pitch in where needed
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Some evening and weekend work is required
Responsibilities
- Catalog museum objects and enter data into PastPerfect, the museum’s collections
management software - Track incoming acquisitions
- Create or assist with the creation of future exhibitions, both on the museum’s website and
at the museum - Research and write newsletter article(s) with a local history focus
- Lead guided tours and walking tours for the general public
- Lead school programs
- Work with staff to ensure museum is clean and presentable
- Assist with programs and special events
- Assist with other daily operational tasks as needed
Schedule
The internship schedule can be adjusted but is usually about 25 hours/week, sometimes
including weekends, for a twelve-week period beginning in September and ending in December.
Salary is $14.20/hour. Some evening work is required. Housing is not provided, and the intern
must have transportation. Most or all work will need to be done in person.
