The Old Stone Fort Museum is excited to welcome author, historian and loyalist descendant Jennifer DeBruin for a special presentation “Traitors, Spies & Heroes”, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 5 as part of the two-day Stone Fort Days living history event!
With deep ancestral roots in New France/Quebec, Upper Canada/Ontario, and colonial America, Jennifer is interested in exploring the human story within this rich history. Combining her passion and experience in writing, education, history, and genealogy, she writes fact-based, historical fiction that engages readers in “discovering the humanity in the history.” A dynamic and knowledgeable speaker, Jennifer is a sought after presenter at historical, literary and community events.
In her program “Traitors, Spies & Heroes”, Jennifer will reveal insights into the vast spy network that existed during the Revolutionary War. She will explore the daily lives of citizens living in the colonies of New York, New Hampshire and Vermont and discuss loyalist movements during the war and their settlement in its aftermath. DeBruin provides a fascinating perspective on American’s first civil war and the loyalists, including entire families, who risked everything as “agents for secret service” to their crown.
Copies of Jennifer DeBruin’s books “Daughter of Conflict” and “Shadows in the Tree” are available for purchase in the Old Stone Fort Museum Store and Jennifer herself will be on hand from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 5 to meet the public and sign copies.
