
This medal was given to soldiers who participated in certain campaigns, and this medal recipient also received the St Mihiel, Meuse Argonne, and Defensive Sector medal clasps. These indicate that the recipient was present at two of the last offensives of the war.
This particular medal was awarded to Carl Skidmore, a Marine from Jefferson, NY who was killed in France just 10 days before the end of the First World War.
